TBAP Returns Again!

After a longer-than-we-hoped break, we rehearsed last night at Jason's place in Chelsea. We played through each of the following songs:

Simple Days
Innocence Inside
Fall Down – Toad The Wet Sprocket
So Lucky
Locked Away
Sad to Say
Interstate Love Song - STP
You Shook Me All Night Long - AC/DC
Time To Move On
Trust
She's Hot
100 in a 55 - Pop Evil
Good - Better Than Ezra
Just Once
Not On Your Life
Hiding Out
Second Chance – Shinedown

We also managed to record "So Lucky" and "Trust." Jason posted "Trust" and an earlier rehearsal session recording of "Just Once" to iLike/Facebook. "Just Once" is available as a full download for those interested.

We'll have a 2nd rehearsal this week on Thursday. In a week I'd expect that we'll be right back on track.

Also, on November 11th The Back Alley Project will hit the Ark stage for open mic for the 2nd time in 2009!!

Everybody Here Wants You.

Last night I recorded 6 takes of guitar tracks Jeff Buckley's "Everybody Here Wants You" for submission into the Jeff Buckley Tribute contest. 2 acoustic tracks, 4 electric.

Details about the contest are located here.

Here some additional details from the site -
The 12th Annual Jeff Buckley Tribute is scheduled to take place on November 17th and 18th. The event will be held at Uncommon Ground’s Clark and Grace location. Artists have come from countries such as France, Italy, Denmark, Holland, Mexico, UK, Australia and many others in past years to perform at the tribute.

Artists may submit Jeff Buckley covers OR songs that Jeff Buckley covered; originals about or inspired by Jeff Buckley, in varying styles suitable for conversion to an acoustic/unplugged performance. Selected artists may perform one of each as well on both nights.

This event, which is supported by the Buckley family and featured on the official Jeff Buckley web site, sells out every year in less than 10 minutes for both nights' performances. Jeff Buckley's mother, Mary Guibert, has been known to fly in for this event on many occasions. All net proceeds for the night will go to The Old Town School of Folk Music Scholarship Fund, which allows musicians of all ages who can't afford to pay attend classes.

On a snowy night in February of 1994, Jeff Buckley played a legendary set at Uncommon Ground. This performance was lauded "Best Concert of the Year" by Greg Kot of the Chicago Tribune, and was later recalled by Mr. Kot as one of the best concerts he's ever attended.

Jeff Buckley was born in California's Orange County in 1966 and died in a tragic drowning accident in Memphis on May 29, 1997. He had emerged in New York City's avant-garde club scene in the 1990's as one of the most remarkable musical artists of his generation, acclaimed by audiences, critics, and fellow musicians alike. For more information about Jeff, see the official website: www.jeffbuckley.com.

In any case, Jason is going to add vocal tracks to 1 or more of these takes, and we'll submit it for 5 bucks. The final submissions are due Monday, 10/5. We're not expecting to be accepted to perform, but it would be very cool if we got surprised!
